Heron Bros Ltd finalist in the Go Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland 2015/16
Heron Bros Ltd is delighted to be a finalist in the Go Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland 2015/16 for the Sustainability / Corporate Social Responsibility category.
The Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland aim to recognise excellence within procurement and the benefits to the wider business and social community that smart, effective and sustainable purchasing can deliver.
Scotland has a thriving business community and a forward-thinking approach to public procurement. Public sector spending on goods and services across Scotland is estimated to be over £10 billion per annum.
In accordance with our Sustainable Procurement Policy and responsible business obligation within our corporate sustainability strategy, we are committed to increasing the level of sustainable and responsible procurement across our business. In 2014, 80% of all timber and timber products was FSC/PEFC, 60% of our structural steel was made from recycled content, 97% of our cut and bent and mesh steel reinforcement was made from a recycled content and 48% of all hardcore was recycled. We monitor, measure the economic impact we have on the communities in which we operate and promote the use of local suppliers.
