Established in 1956 in Draperstown, Northern Ireland, we proudly chose this historic town as the site for our new state of the art headquarters. Having evolved into an award winning construction and property development company operating across the UK, Ireland, and Europe with over 250 staff, our new headquarters were designed to accommodate the planned and sustainable growth of the Heron Group.
Our Head Office redevelopment project centred around the sympathetic restoration of a listed building known as the ‘Corner House’, formerly a longstanding public house fronting onto Draperstown’s historic main street. This restoration formed the heart of our comprehensive Design and Build scheme that seamlessly integrated heritage preservation with modern workplace requirements.
Key construction elements included major tunnelling works to connect the historic building with new construction, creating a cohesive 31,000sqm office accommodation. The project exemplified our commitment to sustainability through energy efficient, super insulated construction, aligned with our ESG strategy and implementation of Circular Construction Principles.
The design prioritised collaborative working with open plan office areas, breakout spaces, and meeting rooms featuring fully interactive touch screens. Additional amenities include a staff café, landscaped gardens, and a bespoke modern gym facility developed in response to employee feedback, demonstrating our commitment to staff wellbeing.
Phase two involved refurbishing and fitting out our original offices to match the new headquarters’ finishes, with major tunnelling facilitating seamless connection between buildings.
