Auchinleck Community & Day Care Centre

Heron Bros. Ltd successfully delivered a £3 million Community and Day Care Centre in Auchinleck, replacing outdated facilities with a modern, purpose-built hub for East Ayrshire residents. Developed on a brownfield site, the single-storey building consolidates healthcare, community services, and educational facilities within one accessible location, significantly improving service delivery efficiency.

The comprehensive facility integrates day care provision with community functions through a dual-wing design. The Day Care Centre includes offices, treatment rooms, a kitchen and dining area, activity space/café, quiet room, lounge areas, and a garden room. These spaces provide the infrastructure needed for specialised care, while maintaining a welcoming and therapeutic environment for service users.

The Community Centre wing offers a general training and community room, a main hall, lesser hall, kitchen, office, and flexible multi-purpose rooms. Ancillary accommodation includes toilets, baby-changing areas, stores, plant rooms, and circulation spaces, with a mezzanine floor dedicated to plant and service equipment. Together, these facilities support a broad programme of activities and public services for a diverse range of user groups.

This project highlights Heron Bros. Ltd.’s expertise in complex brownfield remediation, multi-stakeholder coordination, and the delivery of critical community infrastructure. Completed under a traditional contract arrangement, the development creates a central hub that strengthens community cohesion while meeting both specialised day care requirements and wider community needs across East Ayrshire.
