This £12m landmark project for North Down Borough Council comprised the construction of a state of the art 11,000 m2 waste compaction and transfer station including a fully equipped garage, storage buildings, a 10,000 sq. ft. office facility and a 20,000 sq. ft. two storey parking facility for on-site staff and visitor parking.
Most of the building was constructed below ground to minimise the visual impact on surrounding properties.
The entire design and construction phase of this project has fully implemented the CEEQUAL Initiative. The project won the Sustainable Ireland Awards 2007 – Best Recycling Initiative; Silver Award for International Green Apple Awards 2008 and the RSUA 2008 Special Award for innovation in Design and Construction.
