Heron Bros Ltd wins Silver RoSPA Award 2016
Heron Bros Ltd has been successful in the 60th year of the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016.
We picked up the Silver award in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
We will be presented with the award during a ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow hotel, on September 15, 2016, as the event marked its diamond anniversary.
The RoSPA Awards present highly regarded and sought after accolades to businesses and organisations, which have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.
Through the scheme, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.”
Eugene McAneney, Construction Director at Heron Bros said, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our excellent Health and Safety management through achieving a Silver RoSPA award. At Heron Bros, we recognise that our workforce is our greatest asset and therefore make their health, safety and well-being our top priority.”
Demonstrating our commitment to occupational health, we implemented a number of initiatives during 2015/16. The company is registered with FORS, Driver Safety Training and Randox Drug & Alcohol Testing.
We continue to partner with organisations including Business in the Community, Build Health NI and Aware-NI. These organisations continue to support us in driving improvement in areas such as alcohol awareness, weight management and mental health.
We take an innovative approach to communicating occupational health and safety to our workforce such as our recent themed games and competitions, which have proven to be a success. Our ongoing commitment to Health and Safety has had a profoundly positive impact on the entire company.
