The HBJV Team have been busy on site at the National Indoor Arena in Dublin. Since our last update, the construction the National Indoor Arena has developed considerably. All major drainage, services and parking areas are now complete.

Steelwork has been erected with floor slabs cast. Blockwork has commenced with major mechanical & electrical services being installed. Cladding to elevations is now also underway. The steelwork is in fabrication for the National Indoor Athletics Training Centre, with the entrance area well underway. Steelwork for this stage of works is scheduled to begin in early February. While M&S installation is planned to commence 4th January 2016.

The National Indoor Arena will be made up of:

  • National Indoor Athletics Training Centre – including 200m track; 60m sprint track; 110m sprint track; throw, jump and pole-vault areas; permanent seating for 400 spectators which can be increased to 1,900 for key events.
  • National Gymnastics Training Centre – catering for all gymnastics
  • National Indoor Training Centre – a multi-sport facility catering for over 20 sports in a variety of configurations; capable of being sub-divided into 3 separate areas; seating for 1,500 spectators
  • Covered synthetic pitches with ancillary changing, strength & conditioning facilities etc.

It is intended to phase the construction of the Arena, with completion of the Athletics, Gymnastics and multi-sport facilities scheduled for November 2016.
