Heron Bros is delighted to announce the achievement of a Gold Award at the the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards 2018.

The RoSPA Awards are recognised as the most rigorous and respected health and safety awards scheme in the UK.  The Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The Heron Bros team were presented with the prestigious Gold Award at the ceremony on 13 September 2018 at the Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central.

Eugene McAneney, Construction Director at Heron Bros commented on the achievement:

“We are delighted to have been recognised for our approach to Health and Safety by achieving a Gold RoSPA award. The RoSPA Awards are internationally recognised and have fast become the most sought after accolade by organisations from every sector. At Heron Bros, the health, safety and well-being of our team is at the very top of our corporate agenda. We recognise our workforce as our greatest asset and have rigorous health and safety policy and procedures in place to safeguard them at all times.

Martin O’Kane, Deputy Group Managing Direcctor at Heron Bros commented:

“This award is the result of the excellent health and safety culture which exists throughout our entire business, on all of our projects, across all of our regions. We realise we operate in one of the most hazardous industries, therefore it is paramount for us that each member of our team returns home safe and well at the end of each working day.”

“In recent years, we have focused on behavioural change towards health and safety. It is every person’s duty to be vigilant at work for themselves and their colleagues. The responsibility for health and safety lies with each and every one of us. This Gold RoSPA Award instils confidence in our clients, staff, supply chain and wider stakeholder groups that they are in safe hands.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said:

“The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”
