Heron Bros, who were captained by Tyrone All-Ireland Champion Kevin Hughes, finished top of their group by defeating Abbott, Pramerica and Citigroup.

Heron Bros then progressed to the Cup knockout stage which led to Heron Bros playing both Citi and Kingspan to determine the overall winner.

A 3-way play-off ensued between the teams with Heron Bros suffering a narrow one point defeat in the first game to last year’s cup winners, Citi. In the second game, Heron Bros defeated Kingspan by 1-5 to 0-1.  In the final game, Kingspan defeated hot favourites Citi which led to Heron Bros being awarded the cup by the virtue of a greater scoring difference.

Heron Bros’ Denis Murtagh was awarded player of the tournament, which was a tough call for the judges as there were many outstanding performers on the day.

Heron Bros will proceed to represent Ulster in the All-Ireland semi-final stage which takes place early 2017. Congratulations to the players and management of all teams who participated in the competition.
